About Us...

Hillside Structures is owned by two brothers Daniel Smucker and David Smucker Jr. and located on the Smucker Farm in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Nestled among the scenic mountains of the Susquehanna Valley 1 mile east of Susquehanna River and away from the hustle and bustle of most of the modern world, you will find our humble little workshop. We are approximately 45 miles north of Harrisburg PA and 35 miles southwest of Bloomsburg PA. We are the designers and manufactures of all our buildings, not a middle man.

Our History

In 2004 we began renovating an old pole barn (originally used to raise heifers) on our home farm owned by our father David Smucker Sr. Dad had quit farming several years earlier and we decided to put the old heifer barn to good use. The walls and ceilings were insulated and enclosed and we added several doors and windows, and converted it into a nice workshop.

In January, 2005 we (Daniel Smucker and David Smucker Jr.) quit our construction jobs and built our first barn. For the next 2 years we remained a 2 man operation, building board & batten horse barns and storage barns as well as an occasional renovation job. We soon realized the need to expand our product line to include two story barns as well as renovations and new construction.

Business grew each year and we continued to grow in size and efficiency. By 2008 our team grew to 5 people and as of 2011 we have a total of 10 people working full time including our construction crew.

Our Team

The owners and most of our employees are Amish and grew up on Amish farms where we learned the value of a hard day’s work and a job done right. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and being able to customize each building or project to our customer’s specifications.

We are a small company geared to satisfy each and every one of our valuable customers. We build approximately 200 buildings a year in a large variety of styles varying in sizes from 6x6 to 36x60. Our goal is to build your barn or garage the way you want it, whether that be a small outbuilding or a large two story garage, we will work with you to customize it to your specifications.
